Petrey Family Christmas Dinner 2015

On December 6, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the evening, we held our very first Petrey Family Christmas Dinner.

To say it was spectacular would be an understatement, for how could mere words possibly convey the love and joy that filled the atmosphere. There is something wonderfully extraordinary that happens when you bring together family, friends, and food!

Inside the Fellowship Hall was beautifully decorated tables making it festive and full of Christmas cheer. The aroma of delicious food, which had been loving prepared by our Petrey Family, filled the air, warmly greeting you as you came through the door. As we gathered together to celebrate Christmas and the birth of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, we opened up with a scripture (from Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace") and a prayer inviting the presence and blessings of GOD. Then the Fellowship Committee and their gracious helpers became the hands and feet of Christ as they selflessly served each family member and guest before thinking of themselves.

We also got to celebrate the birthday of our Pastor.

But honestly, Butch is more than our Pastor, he is our Friend, and our Brother in Christ. We love him and Cindy so much more than they will ever know, so much more than we could ever express. And we in turn feel loved by them beyond measure. I cannot even begin to imagine the sacrifices they are making to serve GOD and to serve our Petrey Family.

Can you feel the LOVE?

That evening a simple dinner was turned into a glorious celebration of the Birth of Jesus and of Family and Friends. Here Family became Friends and Friends became Family. Love and laughter filled the room. We were one... one Church, one Family, with one Heart, and one Spirit. We were what we were created to be, what we always knew we could be, what we once were, but lost somewhere along the way... We had forgotten who we were, but we will never forget again. For now we are family, we are unbreakably, indescribably, inseparably bound together by the Spirit of GOD! And we will never, ever, lose sight of that again!!!

Kudos to Janet Prater Smith for taking all of these photos and more. I got them from her Facebook page. I truly hope she doesn't mind.
