WOMEN'S OFF-GRID YOGA RETREAT IMMERSE IN THE HEALING POWERS OF NATURE AND YOGA 10/11/12 JUNE 2016

Nature is remedy

The modern world's demands do not align with the unchanging needs of the human being. We may be coping but we should be thriving.

It's not complicated - in fact it's the opposite of complicated - it's about stripping back. What better way to renew your tired body and mind than a weekend spent in off-grid woodland? No electricity, no wifi, no responsibility, no worries.

By simply indulging in the healing power of nature, yoga, great food and like-minded company you offer yourself an opportunity to relax, restore and get back to thriving.

"A tree growing out of the ground is as wonderful today as it ever was. It does not need to adopt new and startling methods." ~Robert Henri
Welcome to The Green Escape - your stunning woodland retreat SPACE.

THE VENUE

Your weekend begins on Friday afternoon. It is a short (10-15 minute) stroll across a field from the farm to the retreat space. Our nearest neighbours are sheep, chickens and lamas.

The venue is entirely off-grid; no electricity, no wifi. But being off-grid does not mean roughing it. Hot water is provided by a gas boiler, there are an abundance of wood burning stoves (so no fear of being cold), and the camp is lit by a combination of solar and candle light.

Hut interior complete with wood burning stove

Accomodation is in luxurious shepherd's huts. They are like a hug for your senses; the soft smell of pine, the feel of the sumptuous beds, the warmth of the woodburning stove, the rustle of the trees and the sense of grounding and satisfaction that somes from spending a night under the stars.

'Glamping' is not a generous enough term to describe what it's like to stay in one of these beautiful shepherds huts.

THE YOGA

"Purification, refinement, surrender - these are the practical steps on the path of yoga."~ sutra 2.1 Patanjalis yoga sutras

In the most simplified of terms this sutra can taken as: Practice, reflect in a mindful way and accept the things we cannot change (ie: let STUFF go!).

Over the weekend you will experience a wide range of hatha yoga practices; dynamic flow yoga, slower more yin-style sessions, guided meditation and relaxation, time for discussion and sharing, time to listen and be heard, time to chant, time to be quiet...all underpinned with a healthy dose of yoga philosophy and mindfulness.

Most sessions take place in 'the bales' a cob building that sits at the heart of camp...some will be outside.

FOOD

Food is lovingly prepared onsite and meals are eaten as a group. The menu is delicious, nourishing and vegetarian. If you have any specific dietary requirements then please let me know in advance so they can be accommodated.

FREE TIME

Of course it's up to you how you spend your time. Lounging on a hammock reading a book (bring your own or read one of the yoga tomes I will supply), journaling, drinking tea and chatting, resting in your hut or maybe enjoying the open air shower (a few of last year's retreaters did and reported that it was exhilarating experience).

Taking time for tea and connection

On Saturday I will be leading a walk to Leith Hill Tower. It costs a couple of pounds to climb to the top of the actual tower but is free with National Trust membership.

On Saturday afternoon we enjoy a brisk walk to the top of Leith Hill where the panoramic views of the Surrey countryside will take your breath away.

ABOUT ME

I'm Charlie. Yoga has been part of my life for over 15 years now and I love to be able to share it with others through teaching. I trained under the British Wheel of Yoga and hold their 500hr diploma, but I believe firmly that you never stop being a student of yoga. My classes are mainly vinyasa flow style of yoga but am influenced by many styles and teachers. I believe that yoga offers us an endless toolbox of practices (both physical and spiritual) to live life with joy and authenticity...
