Hello there!
Welcome to the first of many updates, where our teams strives to do our best to share the story of Abba's Pride to people both near and far. We are excited you have taken the time to stop in and see what the Lord is doing! Our prayer is that this monthly update serves as a tool for you to not only learn more about Abba's Pride but to better understand how to pray for the ministry!
THE PROBLEM
Thousands of children in South Africa live without parents or responsible adults in their homes. They are vulnerable, living in squatter and under-resourced communities. The children are hungry and lacking basic necessities.
OUR VISION & MISSION
Our vision is: to see churches bring hope to their communities by nurturing and education children. Through this vision our mission is to come alongside churches in under-resourced areas to feed the bodies, minds, and spirits of those in their communities.
OUR SOLUTION
Abba’s Pride is committed to bringing the Hope of Christ to vulnerable children by coming alongside under-resourced churches, in order to help their congregations develop sustainable and reproducible ministries. These ministries aim to: feed hungry and malnourished children; equip early childhood centers for preschoolers; create after-school “Safe Zones” where children can receive food, tutoring, and spiritual education; intentionally disciple adults and coach them to be transformational leaders in their communities.
PRESCHOOL IMPACT & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Consistant, skilled, reliable preschool teachers
- Centers abilities to pay a fair teacher salary
- Ability for each center to meet all registration guidelines and receive registration certificate
- Volunteers for after-school programs
- Programs for children will always include a strong message of Jesus' love
TEACHER TRAINING: A child's school readiness rest strongly on the teacher's ability to teach them.
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Teachers' commitment to implement learned skills
- Teachers' determination to show the love of Jesus
- Debbie's and Rebecca's wisdom to balance accountability and encouragement as a part of the discipleship process
- Wisdom in developing the second year ECD Teacher's Guild, our intentional mentoring and training program.
AGRICULTURE AND OTHER PROJECTS PROVIDING SUSTAINABLE FOOD SOURCES
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Committed individuals from the church community that are willing to be trained and work to produce food for the hungry
- Reliable water sources
- PRAISE: Recently a new partnership with a pizza dough company has provided the ability to assist a community in producing 200+/- loaves of bread weekly
- Wisdom in identifying the right community for the project
- Secure facility for the bread making project
- Equipment for bread making: oven, pans, etc.
FEEDING HUNGRY CHILDREN
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
Individuals, schools, and small groups to sponsor food for specific centers and after-school programs.
Thank you to so many of you who are already going above and beyond sponsor the feeding of children!
PASTOR AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Follow-through following recent budget and business plan workshops
- Wisdom in planning future workshops that meet the needs of the pastors and leaders
- United States team coming in August for two Pastors' conferences. Pray their safe travel and tremendous attendance
LEADING A GROWING MINISTRY TEAM
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Praise! New team member Julian Marsay (pictured). Julian is our first South African team member. We are thankful for the ministry capacity and wisdom Julian brings to Abba's Pride
- Greg and Annie Moses as they prepare to coordinate Serve South Africa, Abba's Pride's internship program. They will be in South Africa for 8 weeks overseeing the 8 amazing interns scheduled to arrive in June 2016
- The Warrens and Jones as we continue to develop Serve South Africa. Our desire is that young people will experience God's heart for the least of these, grow spiritually, and discern their leadership gifts for Kingdom work
FUTURE INITIATIVES & NEEDS
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Discernment regarding possible funding and implementation of a Teacher's Learning Academy
- Abba's Child: a child sponsorship program
- Expansion of full-time missionary team. Needs include: teacher- trainer for ECD teacher observation and training; media/web specialist to help tell the story; after-school program assistance; financial assistant
