Shopping Local #RVA Shop local this holiday season

Shopping local in the Richmond Region is a breeze. We're going to take you on a whirlwind tour of local shopping districts, local artisans and makers and local booze for all of your holiday needs.

CARYTOWN

Carytown's got everything you need, from independent book and record stores to goods for the cyclists in your life to high-end fashion and crafts from local makers.

LOCAL MAKERS

Richmond has a creative class unmatched in cities of similar size. Here are some local makers to brighten your holidays.

Shockoe Atelier builds on the tradition and craft of the great European luxury houses, but with a distinctly American point of view. We pair exquisitely constructed denim made by hand in our Richmond VA workshop, with luxury tailored goods made to the same exacting standards in Italy.

Inspired by and designed for individuals who want to be connected to the process, ingredients, and people behind the goods they purchase, Square Trade Goods was founded on the ideals of authenticity and craftsmanship. Every STGC scent is created in-house from all-natural ingredients and each candle is poured by hand in Richmond, VA. Our lifestyle goods are collaborative projects between American manufacturers, independent artists and designers, and the Square Trade Goods brand. We aim to elevate design and art by providing a supportive platform with impeccable quality standards.

Let me introduce you to the Awl Snap duo: Erin McRoberts as the Designer, Maker, and all around Business-Runner; and Shahana Insari as the Production Manager and Maker, and right-hand woman. Awl Snap's products are designed and crafted in our Richmond, Virginia studio. We make sure every product is created with purpose, and designed to age with perfection- much like a fancy French cheese.

Because we make every order by hand, we kindly ask that you allow some time for made-to-order products and custom designs- we promise the wait will be worth it.

Fern & Roby is located in Richmond, Virginia. As a design house, our line ranges from small machined hardware and accessories to monumental tables and audio components. We work with local partners to source our materials and cast our metal pieces.

The essential quality our pieces share is how they are designed as tools for living. We are driven to make beautiful things that enhance and elevate the everyday, whether it be cooking, dining, or listening to music.

Studio Two Three (S23) is Central Virginia’s only community printmaking workshop. They provide established and aspiring artists and craftspeople with studio facilities, education, artist residency, and open doors. They offer 24/7 access to a printmaking shop, darkroom, digital lab, communal workspace, and individual studios to support production, creative practice, and discourse. They are professionals, amateurs, teachers and students.

Buy an RVA map to support the studio, and make the holidays awesome for your favorite RVA fan.
