SHEILA'S E-Grapevine

These amazing wines are available from today until December 5th, 2015

2014 Artiga Old Vines Garnacha Seleccion
Beautiful! A nice Garnet ruby color with bright cherries, freshly picked summer strawberries, toasted vanilla and just a whiff of truffle. This was medium bodied and packed with flavor! Harmonious palate centering on cherries, plums, cassis and mulled spices with a trace of mocha and tobacco in the back end. Smooth, food friendly, and very savory. Artiga's pure Garnacha grapes were picked by hand from low-yielding bush vines planted in 1964, in the desert like plains of Campo de Borja in Spain's Aragon province, these native Garnacha grapes develop beautiful rich aromas of berries and fresh spices. Goes wonderfully with succulent pork and lamb.
Barcino Cava Brut
The grapes are traditional Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada. Tiny bubbles a light, nutty fragrance and a lingering citrus finish. Crisp, dry, refreshing! Hints of honeycomb, delicious apples and kiwi. Beautiful bubbly and prefect to get the evening started; have this with bacon wrapped figs, bruschetta and a Wisconsin aged cheddar. All this and less than $10 a bottle!
2014 El Circo Garnacha
A light ruby color with essence of violets, vanilla & bing cherries on the nose. This is a nice Garnacha that has ripe raspberries, cranberries, cinnamon and strawberry tarts. Medium bodied and festive; this went nicely with chicken chili & pepper jack sandwiches.
2014 Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais ~90 Points Wine Advocate~
The 2014 Beaujolais Côteau Belle-Vue comes from a 15-hectare, south-facing vineyard on granite soils with a little schist. It has a lovely, clean and pure bouquet with bright red cherries and fresh strawberry fruit leaping from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin and a clean thread of acidity. This is bright and vivacious with a pleasing sharpness and focus on the tart finish. Enjoy this over the next 5 to 7 years.
H Blin Brut NV Champagne ~Rated 91 Points Wine Spectator~
Kumquat, pastry, poached pear and macerated apricot notes mix in this creamy version, backed by a steely spine of acidity. This finds balance, particularly on the refined finish. Drink now through 2023. 3,000 cases imported. Staff notes: 80% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay. Fantastic! Tones of butterscotch, lemon zest, kiwi and golden apples. Very smooth and even with nice minerality on the palate – supple, and refreshingly dry. Pair this with pots de crème and a soft, boursin French cheese.
2013 Double Canyon Horse Heaven Cabernet Sauvignon ~91 Points Wine Spectator~
This Cabernet embodies a delectable mix of fresh ripe red and black plum, intermingled with hints of dried red cherry. Characteristic of the appellation and 2013 vintage, the nose presents spiced potpourri with the slightest hint of fresh sweet basil. The addition of Syrah leads to a full and rich texture on the mid-palate, further accented by luscious blackberry notes supplied by the Malbec and bright acidity from the Petit Verdot. The soft and supple mouthfeel is supported by the complexity of sweet oak tannins and fresh fruit character, finishing with the juicy acidity that is characteristic of Horse Heaven Hills.
2013 Tom Gore Chardonnay
This Chardonnay has intense aromas of ripe apple and tropical fruit, with notes of toffee and toasty oak. The wine is smooth and richly textured. Its creamy undertones are balanced with just the right amount of acidity on the palate.
2012 7 Deadly Zins ~90 Points Wine Advocate~
Another outstanding value is the 2012 Zinfandel 7 Deadly Zins. Aged in American oak, it is an opulent, delicious, sexy, full-throttle Zinfandel boasting lots of briary, peppery, mulberry and black cherry fruit notes, a full-bodied texture and terrific purity as well as opulence. It is a delicious, staggering value in Zinfandel, and the fact that there are 230,000 cases blows my mind. Drink it over the next several years.
2012 Hazana Rioja Tradicion ~90 Points Vinous~
All tempranillo; aged in French and American oak for a year): Inky ruby. Lively, smoke-accented aromas of redcurrant and cherry, with a suave floral quality in the background. Zesty red fruit flavors are complemented by notes of blood orange, rose and musky herbs. Packs a flavorful punch and finishes brisk and spicy, leaving floral pastille notes behind. This wine, which delivers exceptional value, was made by Miguel Angel Rodriguez, winemaker at Vinicola Real, for importer Eric Solomon.
