Powder Puff Fundraising through flag football

On a frigid Wednesday night, a group of RBHS girls took the field to partake in the annual Powder Puff football game. The entry fee was a can of food or a monetary donation for the local food bank.

The seniors and sophomores engaged in a defensive battle, as the scoreboard read 0-0 at the conclusion of the first half. Senior running back Molly Klein and sophomore quarterback Tamara Holiday each had explosive runs for their teams, but could not find the end zone, as the game was still scoreless at the end of regulation.

Senior quarterback Lexi Heim took the first play from scrimmage in overtime into the end zone, as the seniors were victorious in a highly competitive game.

The Junior Team, led by star running back Molly Gunter, quarterback Delaney McDannold and defensive lineman Ojurere Shonekan, easily dismantled the inexperienced Freshmen Team, by a score of 22-6. In the picture above, Gunter is seen scoring a 40-yard touchdown run.

The Bruins Boys performed their annual halftime performance, displaying little skill, but lots of self-confidence in their humorous act.

The championship game, featuring the explosive offense of the Juniors and stout defense of the Seniors, was highly competitive. Many fans, coaches and players felt that the officials aided the Senior team throughout the game, including this picture, as officials called back a touchdown pass from McDannold to Gunter. Nevertheless, a quarterback sneak by senior Lexi Heim in overtime gave the Seniors the win by a 14-8 count.

In the final game of the night, the Seniors defeated the Faculty 20-14. Led by linebacker Helen Trice, seen pulling the flag of an opponent, the Senior defense proved to be too much for the veteran faculty team.

The faculty, seniors and juniors pose after their games with their coaches. The teams battled each other, but also the bitter cold throughout the night.
