Snow Photography Simple Tips for taking & editing photos on your smartphone
Convert your image to black & White
Capturing snow can be difficult – light and weather conditions can easily prevent the white from coming through perfectly in photos. Counteract with a simple – and gorgeous – black and white shot.
Make the most of winter shadows
Because the sun stays low throughout the day, make shadows the focus of your composition.
Take advantage of your surroundings
Extreme weather conditions can make for memorable photos – even in a blizzard or storm – and produce stunning shots. Use an app like Adobe’s free Lightroom for mobile to remove or add fog and haze from the dense winter storm with the Dehaze slider.
Nothing breaks up snow scenery better than the perception of depth
Incorporate layers or lines in the frame to create a point of reference for drawing the eye through. Trees, or even sled tracks, are perfect subjects.
Same goes for a pop of color!
Use flash to capture the smallest details – snowflakes!
Using flash over exposes subjects, but in this case, when you activate flash and shoot, you’ll capture snowflakes falling when it’s snowing heavily.
