Lithuania in WWII

Lithuania was occupied by the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union again in 1944. In 1940 President Antanas Smetona fled to Germany. Soviet attempts to capture him were unsuccessful, and he was able to settle in the United States.

In 1940 Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese consul in Kaunas, and his wife Yukiko disobeyed orders and saved thousands of Jewish refugees from Poland by granting them visas.[1]

In 1941 the Lithuanian Activist Front formed an underground government, and following the June uprising, the Provisional Government of Lithuania maintained sovereignty for a brief period.

Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin was born on December 18, 1878. He had four kids. Vasily Stalin, Svetlana Alliluyeva, Yakov Dzhugashvili, and Artem Sergeev. Yakov was the oldest of the four and was disowned for surrendering. Stalin was leader of the Soviet Union from the mid-1920s until his death in 1953.

Adolf Hitler

Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician who was the leader of the Nazi Party, Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945, and Fuhrer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. He was the head honcho of the Holocaust.

Prison Camps

Prison Camps of World War II are found in many different regions of Germany and Denmark. In 1940-45 a single prison camp held up to 2,000 Jews and Gypsies. As you step off the train to the prison camp, you are separated into two groups. You weren't very lucky if you had a lady by the name of Ilse Koch greeting you. If you had a tattoo of any kind she would have you gasses immediately. If not, then you were stripped naked and hosed down. Next you were sent to a hut, tent, or any type of housing. You would work all day will little no meals. If you were not able to work then you were shot.

Viktor Frankl

Viktor Frankl was a World War II survivor. Before 1940, he worked as a physician and a therapist.
