2 minute Video Challenge 2016 Adobe Student Video Competition - APAC

The Adobe 2 Minute Video Challenge is a new international video competition for students in Asia Pacific.

Open to students in primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and higher education from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Taiwan.

The aim of this competition is to encourage students across Asia Pacific to use their Adobe products creatively to share a message that is important to them and enhance their digital literacy skills.

Categories

There are four categories for this competition:

  • Primary (F-6) age between 5 & 13
  • Junior Secondary (Years 7 to 9) age between 13 & 16
  • Senior Secondary (Years 10 to 12) age between 15 & 18
  • Higher Education (University, TAFE) age 17 and aboveā€¢

Submission dates

Entries can be submitted any time between 1st March 2016 & 30th September 2016.

Students in the primary and secondary categories must be represented by a teacher. The videos can be part of a school curriculum project or special production just for this competition.

Teachers are encouraged to use this competition as a stimulus for students to share their work and display their video literacy skills to a global audience.

Students are encouraged to work in groups of 3, but individual projects are also welcome.

Winners will be announced in November 2016

Prizes

  • 1st prize for the primary category will be 3 licenses to Adobe Premier Elements and Adobe Photoshop Elements for the school (value AUD $450 education price) as well as 3 x US $50 vouchers for the online Adobe Store (http://www.adobebrandedmerchandise.com).
  • 1st prize for all other categories will be 3 x 12 month subscriptions (per category) to the Adobe Creative Cloud (the education price for 1 x 12 month subscription is AUD $180).
  • 2nd prize for all categories will be 3 x US $50 vouchers for the online Adobe Store (http://www.adobebrandedmerchandise.com)
  • 3rd prize for all categories will be 3 x US $25 vouchers for the online Adobe Store (http://www.adobebrandedmerchandise.com)

A total of about AUD $3,300 (education pricing), $7, 260 (retail pricing) worth of prizes.

Production criteria (summary):

  • All entries must be submitted via the Adobe 2 Minute Video Challenge 2016 submission site prior to September 30, 2016.
  • All primary and secondary entries must be submitted by a teacher.
  • All videos must be between 1 & 2 minutes in length. The closing credits can run outside the 2 minute limit.
  • Each video should be a story reflecting something important to the students.
  • Entries must not have been previously selected a winner in a prior promotion of any kind, or used for any other commercial, or non-personal public purpose.
  • Students should avoid identifying their full name and school name in the video, including in the credits.
  • All participants (including anyone who can be recognised in the final recording) needs to be covered under the school's acceptable user policy to be filmed and published over the Internet.
  • All videos must use at least two Adobe products (eg Premiere Pro, Premiere Elements, Premiere Clip, After Effects, Adobe Voice, Edge Animate, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Character Animator, Fuse etc).
  • Any videos that are not in English need to feature English subtitles.
  • All videos need to be G rated (able to be comfortably viewed by any audience). See section 5 of the official rules for more information.
  • All images, music & effects must be original, royalty free and or owned by the filmmakers. Any video featuring commercial images, music or effects will be disqualified from this competition. See section 5 of the official rules for more information.
  • All members of the production crew must be within the age range/year level of their respective category.
  • All of the writing, filming, acting and editing must be completed by students within the category age range.
  • The video should include an opening title and closing credits, which should include the 2016 Adobe 2 Minute Video Challenge logo (a copy is available on the submission site).
  • The final video must be uploaded to either YouTube or Vimeo in high definition and submitted via the official submission site by before October 1, 2016.
  • Decisions from the panel of judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Adobe reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who does not comply with the above criteria.

General judging criteria

  • All videos must meet all the above production criteria
  • Effective use of audio
  • Effective story/communication structure
  • Effective use of lighting
  • A range of framing & angles

The judges will spread their scores to represent:

  • 25% Artistic Composition
  • 25% Artistic Expression
  • 25% Creativity
  • 25% Overall Quality
