Exploring The Setting

The Secret Annex

The Secret Annex was a few hidden rooms in the back of a spice business. The door to the Secret Annex was covered by a bookshelf to hide it. The window's were tinted so people cold not see them. It was not spacious and one family and four other people lived in it. The spice business helped conceal it and raise money for their food. It was hard for everyone because they could not go outside of the Secret Annex.

THe Palace of Amsterdam

The Palace of Amsterdam

William I stayed in the Palace on vacation. He felt the need to stay in the capital. The building was perfect for weddings and royal occasions but it would not be used for long periods of time. They made plans to make it into the town hall but did not have enough money at the time. Now the palace is one of the three places that the Dutch Monarch visits. When there are no events in the palace, the palace is open to the public.

Propaganda

Propaganda is biased information advertising a political cause or view. Propaganda could be a poster, video ad, or radio ad. America, Japan, and Germany used propaganda. In particular, the Nazis gained their power from propaganda. They created a ministry of propaganda to make certain groups, such as the Jews, to look like enemy's. Joseph Goeblles declared that Jewish and communist were the same thing in 1937. Another part of their propaganda were military rallies, these got the German people feeling patriotic for their country. The Nazis posted a bulletin for speakers monthly that would show them how to make the Jews look bad.

These are propaganda by the Nazis, America, and Japan. (Top 4 Nazi, bottom left and middle left American, Middle right and bottom right Japanese)
