Safety Alert Test The system test is set for tuesday, april 12

Cal Poly Pomona will test its Safety Alert System on Tuesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. Students, faculty and staff should expect a brief test message on their cell, home and office phones, as well as an email. The test will also include the Alertus Desktop notification system, which sends safety messages to university-owned computers equipped with Alertus software. The Alertus Desktop Alert can reach a large audience virtually instantaneously – often faster than calls to campus phones or email.

During an emergency situation involving campus safety, the Safety Alert System sends out messages to phones, email, text/SMS, TTY/TDD devices and campus computers. Messages will also be posted on the university’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and the university home page. To receive the messages, faculty, staff and students need to provide up-to-date contact information in BroncoDirect.

Follow the step-by-step directions below to make sure all contact information is updated.

Put in your user I.D. and Bronco password to sign in.
Choose the self service option.
Click on "Phone Numbers"
Make sure your phone numbers are entered correctly and hit save.

Important note: If you want to receive text message alerts during an emergency (highly recommended) you need to designate the number as "Mobile" using the small drop-down menu under "Phone Type." If you enter your cell phone number here, but don't mark it as mobile, you will not receive text alerts. If your cell is the main way we can reach you during an emergency, make sure it's checked as preferred.

The university conducts campus-wide tests of the Safety Alert System once during the fall, winter and spring quarters to familiarize the campus community with this important communication vehicle, as well as to train staff in using the system. Alerts are sent only during emergencies and scheduled tests, and never for routine messages. The contact information you provide in BroncoDirect will remain confidential and will not be released outside of the university.
