PURDUE 68, VANDERBILT 55 A.J. Hammons caps off purdue's non-conference season with a dominating performance against the commodores

A.J. Hammons scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. He has now recorded 19 career double-doubles, the most by an active Big Ten player.

Hammons scored 15 of his points in the decisive second half by going 6-of-9 from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Over the last two games, Hammons has 33 points, 17 rebounds and 12 blocked shots in just 49 minutes.

Hammons blocked seven shots against the Commodores, the fourth most in a game in school history. He held Vanderbilt's future NBA first-round pick Damian Jones to six points and three rebounds in 15 minutes before fouling out.

Rapheal Davis scored 14 points with five rebounds and an assist, his seventh double-figure scoring game of the season.

Davis is nearing the 1,000-point club, now with 848 career points in 109 career games.

The 2015 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year has held the last two players he has guarded (Butler's Kellen Dunham; Vanderbilt's Riley LaChance) to 0-of-18 field goal attempts. In the previous two games against Purdue, those two players combined for 51 points.

Biggie Swanigan scored 13 points with eight rebounds and two assists while going 4-of-7 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Swanigan is now 22 rebounds from entering the Purdue freshman top-10 list for rebounds in a season. He has played 13 games.

Purdue only made 2-of-19 3-pointers, but the one by Ryan Cline in the second half was a huge one. It gave Purdue a 47-38 lead with 6:27 to play. Cline finished with three points, two rebounds and three assists in just 13 minutes and was a catalyst during Purdue's game-clinching 24-8 run.
Dakota Mathias also had a big game, despite scoring just three points. He finished with four assists and three rebounds in 17 minutes and his lone field goal gave Purdue a lead it would never relinquish.
Purdue's bench outscored the opponent's bench for the 13th straight game, outscoring the Commodores 29-17, while adding 18 rebounds and nine assists.
Purdue outrebounded Vanderbilt 43-34, including 23-9 in the second half. The Boilermakers have outrebounded all 13 opponents this year.

Purdue's defense has now held 11 straight opponents under their pregame scoring averages and field goal percentages. Vanderbilt entered the game averaging 81.4 points and shooting 48.6 percent from the field, but was held to 55 and 34.9 percent shooting.

However, the most important event may have came after the game when senior Stephen Toyra proposed to his girlfriend Taylor Vauters. Of course she said yes.

Purdue closes out 2015 having won 15 straight games at Mackey Arena, 11 of them coming by double-digits. Last night's crowd was one of the best in recent memory and give the Boilermakers the BEST homecourt advantage in the country.
