John Greenleaf Whittier notably impacted the abolition movement.he wrote many poems to protest agents slavery during the civil war and he joined and founded anti-slavery Liberty organizations. Becouse he did this we remember him for his bravery in this time of great segregation.

John Greenleaf Whittier wrote poems during the civil war.

John Whittier was born in 1807. He was the first born of four children(Whittier bio). He later died September 7th 1892. He became interested in the anti-slavery movement when the civil war broke out. Becouse he was from the north he was in the majority of people who thought slavry was wrong while people of the shouts still wanted slavery.

John Greenleaf Whittier joined a anti-slavery organization and founded one.

John wrote poems during the civil war to protest slavery(Whittier poems) John joined a anti slavery Union in 1834 and later founded a antislavery Liberty party in 1840 (Whittier "Poems").becouse of his involvement he helped teach people of what the horrible act of slavery is and to posobliy end it.

John Greenleaf Whittier is better known for is poem "Snow-bound"

We would remember John Greenleaf Whittier for his famous poem 'snow-bound'(Whittier poems) and for his valiant fight agent slavery in a time when family's would turn on eachother because one person would see the matter of slavery the other. His willingness of fight this injustice is why we remover him today.
