Setting

The Secret Annex

Anne Frank lived in a building she called "The Secret Annex". This was a place where Anne and her family hid for a period of time during the war. The Secret Annex is now a museum in Amsterdam. To get to the secret annex you would have to pass threw a bookshelf. This book shelf kept the entrance to the Secret annex hidden from the people outside. Anne and her family hid here for about 2 years during World War II to escape persecution by nazi soldiers being that Anne and her family were Jewish. Anne wrote in her diary/journal while she was in hiding. Anne's journal/diary was soon published into a book after the war ended.

Westerkerk

The Westerkerk is a church in Amsterdam. The Church is aproximitlly 282' tall, The church was built in 1620-1631. The church sits on the bank of the prinsengracht canal in central Amsterdam (Netherlands) The Westerkerk's tower the Westertoren is the highest tower to be placed on a church in Amsterdam, the tower also consist of a spire. The Astrian crown of Maximillian I is the crown that tops the spire of the Westertoren. The church is also Fairly close to the house of Anne Frank (The Secret Annex) Anne Frank mentioned the clock face of the church/churches tower and how it could be seen from the attic. A statue of Anne Frank was built in front of the church.

  1. Marriage between Jews and subjects of the state of German or related blood are forbidden. Marriages nevertheless concluded are invalid, even if concluded abroad to circumvent the law. Annulment proceedings can be initiated only by the State Prosecutor.
  2. Extramarital intercourse between Jews and subjects of the state of German or related blood is forbidden.
  3. Jews may not employ in their household female subjects of the state of German o related blood who are under 45 years old.
  4. Jews are forbidden to fly the Reich or National flag or to display the Reich colors. They are, on the other hand, permitted to display the Jewish colors. The exercise of this right is protected by the State.
  5. Any person who violates the prohibition under I will be punished by a prison sentence with hard labor. A male who violates the prohibition under I will be punished with a prison sentence with or without hard labor. Any person violating the provisions under III or IV will be punished with a prison sentence of up to one year and a fine, or with one or the other of these penalties. The Reich Minister of the Interior, in coordination with the Deputy of the Führer and the Reich Minister of Justice, will issue the Legal and Administrative regulations required to implement and complete the Law. Character

Otto Frank

Otto Frank was the father of Anne Frank and Margot Frank, He was also the husband of Edith Frank. Otto Frank was the only member of the Frank family to survive the war. The Secret Annex was a place where Otto used to work. Otto slowly stockpiled food and supplies before they were forced into hiding. Otto knew the Van Pels and let them hide with them during the war.

Anne Frank

Anne Frank was the daughter of Otto Frank and Edith Frank, she was also the sister of Margot Frank. Anne Frank died right before the war ended. Her father Otto published her diary after the war. There is a statue of her in front of the Westerkerk church. The only other people her age in the Secret Annex were her,her sister Margot,and Peter Van Pels.Anne was roughly about 14 during the war.

Herman Van Pels

Herman Van Pels was the husband of Auguste Van Pels and the father of Peter Van Pels. Herman Van Pels is a friend/ coworker with Otto Frank. They have worked with each other since 1938. Herman was born on March 31 1898. Herman learned butcher's trade by his father whom he worked for. Herman Van Pels, his wife, and their son hid with the Frank family in the secret annex with them.

Margot Frank

Margot Frank was the daughter of Otto Frank and Edith Frank as well as the sister of Anne Frank. Margot is about 3 years older than Anne. Margot was a quiet, tidy, and a good student. Margot also kept a diary during the war but it was never found. Margot wanted to become a maternity nurse and study medicine after the war was over. Her and Anne fought very little while in hidding

Summary of act 1

The Frank family and the Van Pels family are hiding in th secret annex. After a while of hiding Mr. Dussel joins the others in hiding. Anne spills a drink onto Mrs. Van pel's fur coat and she gets angry at Anne. A thief enters the building later during the night and it scares everyone hiding,Peter dropped something and the thief left. One night Anne had a nightmare and was screaming, everyone woke up turned on there lights etc. a little bit before all the comotion Mr. Van Pel stole some food for himself. The end of act one leave off with hannaka and the family members singing.

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

The Warsaw Ghetto was a place in Germany where the nazi's put countless amounts of Jews in. The living environment for the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto were very poor living and most Jews died of starvation and disease. Nazi's would also film the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto to fuel propaganda I'm Germany, this made Jews look like savages. Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto would a,so be sent to concentration camps, after a while the Jews realized what was happening at the camps and revolted against the Nazi's, about 40,000,000 Jews died during the revolt in the Warsaw Ghetto. Some Jews did survive and the Nazi's later leveled the Warsaw Ghetto after the revolt.
