Road Trip Gathered Gratitude from Jasper Alberta
Last month I was given a truly phenomenal birthday present for a girl who loves photography, a trip to Jasper Alberta's Dark Sky Festival!
Jasper is approximately a five hour drive from Calgary, AB and provides some of the most incredible scenery. One of the highlights not to be missed is the Jasper Sky Tram. Unfortunately we were too busy soaking up the scenery and missed the turn-off to the parking lot. Darn!! Next time!
Another incredible sight on the trip is the Columbia Icefield. The Columbia Icefield Is said to be one of the last Geological finds discovered by man in Western Canada. The field is reported to cover an area of 130 square miles with a maximum depth of 1.200 feet (365m), the height of the Empire State Building in New York City!
One doesn't have to be a dark sky or photography enthusiast to enjoy the gifts of Jasper. There isn't a corner to be turned where you aren't greeted by jaw dropping vistas.
Peyto Lake, pronounced (pea-toe), is a photographers dream. The vibrant turquoise of the lake seems impossible not to have been altered in a post processing program in the images one captures.
The intense richness of color comes from the great amount of glacial rock flour which flows into the lake during the summer months.
Whether you choose one of the incredible hiking trails along Maligne Lake (don't whatever you do, miss seeing the canyon!) or a picnic by one of the five other stunning lakes (Annette, Edith, Medicine, Geraldine or Summit) , one things for sure, Jasper and her many gifts will have filled your memory book and soul.
If your thinking of visiting and have any questions I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Just drop me a note on Facebook or here on my blog. Oh and don't forget to click on the link at the bottom of this post for more information.
I hope you enjoyed your virtual trip friends!
In Gratitude,
Bev
