House Deans and Student Leaders Develop House Identities: Dublin, Limerick, Waterford & Kilkenny

Vision Statement

To guide our student body toward becoming men of Character, Faith, and Service

Mission Statement

O'Dea's House System seeks to develop, create, and promote connectedness between students, teachers, alumni, and community members. We strive to make O'Dea the place students want to be by coaching students as leaders who inspire those within our school and extended community to connect, identify, and become involved with our school.

Student-Adult Connectedness

In O'Dea's House System each student is surrounded by a circle of caring adults on a daily basis. From the student's mentor teacher to their college counselor, these relationships between students and adults are built on mutual respect and a belief in each student's potential to develop his character, faith, and commitment to service.

Mentor Group

Throughout his four years, an O'Dea student will see his mentor teacher and members of his mentor group every school day.

Leadership

O'Dea's House Leadership Program aims at developing all students into leaders. Supported by a Leadership Honors course, the student leadership team is the heart of this initiative.

Student Life

The classroom isn't the only place we live as men of character, faith, and service.

The O'Dea Brotherhood

The brotherhood developed within each student's House increases his opportunity to engage in O'Dea's vibrant student life.

Clubs

Irish Block

An O'Dea student has the unique experience of participating in Co-Curricular and Club activities during Irish Block. O'Dea has three types of clubs: cultural heritage clubs, general interest clubs, and faith and service clubs.

Student Activities

Socials

Throughout the school year, there are many socials that bring students together. In this picture, members of the House Leadership Team bring ninth-grade students from Holy Names Academy and O'Dea together during the ninth grade picnic.

Service

A core value of an O'Dea student is serving others. House leadership develops and executes service events for the student body throughout the school year.

Dances

Glowing Back to School Dance

School dances are activities where student leaders learn how to event plan in order to execute their vision.

House Games

School Unity

House games increase connectedness between members of a mentor group as they work as a team to engage in friendly competition with the other nineteen mentor groups. They also increase a sense of school connectedness as each House cheers for their team during the finals.

Student Life

House Unity

House unity is created in various ways throughout the school year. Pictured here Limerick house proudly display the "Limerick L" hand gesture.

House Cup

Friendly Competition

All houses compete in the areas of Academics, Service, Spirit, House Games, and Discipline for the honor of being house cup champions of the year. Pictured here is the Limerick house celebrating their achievement of winning the house cup for the 2014–2015 school year.
