Trumpet Lessons 2021-2022 from the Studio of David J. Apple

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in taking Trumpet Lessons from me. Lessons are taught at my studio in Carroll County in historic downtown Westminster, Maryland. Please review the below information regarding studio policies and information.

Why Take Private Lessons?

Time and time again studies have proven that involvement with music improves a student's ability to learn and comprehend all subjects. We firmly believe that with a solid background in music, students will achieve greater success in school and life.

While our local public schools provide outstanding music programs, students can only gain so much from class environments. Private one-on-one lessons increase students' progress exponentially and gives them a greater sense of success and pride in their talent.

Preparing for auditions like All-State, All-County, or college entrances? Mr. Apple is more than happy to help you focus on making a piece of music a real piece of art, and help you to achieve your personal performance goals. Need to record your performance or audition? Mr. Apple has the expertise and technology to make that happen too!

LESSON TIMES / SCHEDULE

Lesson Times

I teach in the Westminster, Maryland area, Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Opening are limited, so please sign-up early. Lessons for the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 session will begin the Week of September 6, 2021. Call for more information or to schedule lessons times.

Online Lessons via ZOOM are still available. Times are flexible depending upon school schedules. Lesson Rates are the same as in person.

Just because you maybe stuck at home doesn't mean we can't have trumpet lessons. If you feel uncomfortable to meet and take lessons in person, there are a variety of ways we can perform, practice and communicate during the COVID-19 Social Distancing Era. Call or email to set up a FREE Trial Trumpet Lesson (1/2 hour). Online lesson only.

Inclement weather / snow / school closings

Weather Closing & Delays
  • If Carroll County Schools CLOSE EARLY do to Weather, my studio will be CLOSED.
  • If Carroll County Schools are CLOSED for the day, my studio will be CLOSED.
  • If Carroll County Schools OPEN LATE, my studio will be OPEN.
  • If Howard County Opens Late or Closes early, and Carroll County is not effected...the studio is OPEN. (Most likely CCPS will close first..if HCPSS is closed or dismisses early, CCPS will probably already be closed or dismissed early.)
  • Payment for inclement weather days will be pro-rated against the next month's studio fee.

Studio fees for 2021-2022 and Distance Instruction

"Through music you set in motion a mighty power which silently, but surely, in the end, will humanize, refine, and elevate a whole community"

Please read the following studio policies through carefully. Contact me if you have any questions.

  • Monthly Lesson Tuition is $120 for one 1/2 hour lesson per week. Hour lessons are available for $240 per month. This include a "free" 5th lesson if there is a 5th day that month. This could be used for make-ups.
  • Payment is due on the first lesson of the month. (Cash or Check)
  • I cannot waive lesson fees for illness or other student absences. I still have to pay rent for the time a student is absent. I must therefor charge for each lesson time block you are scheduled and I am at my studio.
  • I will pro-rate studio fees on times when I will not be teaching (my concerts, performances, etc. or my illness). This includes closure due to inclement weather days.
  • There will be no lessons on extended School Breaks (winter, spring) and on some legal holidays. Please see me as we schedule our monthly lessons times. Those monthly tuition fees will be pro- rated at $30 per 1/2 hour lesson or $60 per hour lesson.
  • On line lessons both 1/2 hour and hour lessons are available at the same rate.

Student expectations

All of Mr. Apple's Trumpet Students are expected to:

  • Be prepared with your trumpet and all other necessary materials at each lesson. All students are expected to have their music, lesson books, working trumpet and accessories at each lesson. Repeated lessons without materials will result in a teacher-parent-student conference.
  • Have your trumpet in good working order for each lesson. If you need something fixed or repaired, see me. Coffey Music has an on site instrument repair technician.
  • Have your lesson prepared to the very best of your ability. PRACTICE! You should be practicing daily. Depending on your age, grade level and the performing groups you belong to, that could be from 20 minutes to 60 minutes per day.
  • Ask questions and be engaged in learning. Bring other music you would like to work on to your lesson.
  • Have FUN!
Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential. - Winston Churchill
