@BoilerBall 91, Wisconsin 80 Underclassmen lead the boilermakers on Senior Day

P.J. Thompson scored a career-high 22 points, connecting on 6-of-8 3-point attempts. Thompson was 5-of-6 from long distance in the first half and also finished with four assists.

Thompson is now shooting a team-best 42.5 percent (31-of-73) from long distance and is now 9-of-11 (.818) from 3-point range for his career against Wisconsin.

Thompson also limited Bronson Koenig to eight points on 3-of-12 shooting.

Caleb Swanigan finished with a career-high 27 points, coming on 6-of-7 field goals and 14-of-17 free throws. He added eight rebounds and scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half.

Swanigan made his 20th 3-pointer of the season, becoming the seventh Boilermaker this season with 20 or more 3-pointers. That is the most players in school history with 20 or more trifectas.

Swanigan's 313 points are the 10th by a freshman in school history and his 247 rebounds are just two shy of the Purdue top-20 list.

Swanigan is 1-of-16 freshman nationally since 1994-95 to have scored 300 points with 240 rebounds, 50 assists and 20 made 3-pointers.

A.J. Hammons scored 16 points with eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots to move into third on the Purdue career rebounds list (887) and 20th on the career scoring list (1,529).

Hammons' 59.4 field goal percentage this year is the 15th-best percentage in school history and he has scored in double figures in 12 straight games.

Hammons now has 1,529 points, 887 rebounds and 333 blocked shots.

Vince Edwards scored 11 points with six assists and four rebounds against zero turnovers in 33 minutes of action.

Over the last two games, Edwards is averaging 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 5-of-9 from 3-point range.

Edwards is on pace to lead the team in assists for the second straight year (94).

Edwards is 1-of-2 FR or SOPHS nationally with at least 325 points, 160 rebounds, 90 assists and 35 3-pointers made (New Mexico's Elijah Brown).

The Boilermakers celebrated Senior Night with the win, improving to 8-3 under Matt Painter on Senior Night.

• With the win tonight, Purdue won its 17th home game of the season, the most wins at Mackey Arena in school history.

• Purdue has now won 24 games this season, making it the 13th time in 118 seasons the Boilermakers have won at least 24 games. It has happened five times during Matt Painter's 11 seasons.

• Purdue notched its first season sweep over the Badgers since the 2008-09 season, and improved to 38-4 against Wisconsin in Mackey Arena.

• The Boilermakers shot 62.2 percent from the field tonight, the highest percentage ever in a game under Coach Painter. The prior mark was 61.2% from the field against Michigan on Feb. 11, 2006.

• Purdue finished with 245,916 fans through the turnstiles, the second most in facility history, just 828 fans short of the 2008-09 total of 246,744.

• Purdue's 1.36 points / possession was the 14th-best total for a game in school history.

• With his eight rebounds tonight, A.J. Hammons now has 887 for his career, good for third on the Purdue career rebounds list. Hammons passed Walter Jordan (882) tonight.

• Hammons has also moved into a tie with Russell Cross for 20th on the Purdue all-time scoring list with 1,529 points, after totaling 16 tonight.

• P.J. Thompson had his best night as a Boilermaker, recording a new career high with 22 points. He becomes the sixth Boilermaker this year with 20 points in a game.

• Freshman Caleb Swanigan had a huge game tonight, setting career highs in points (27), free throws made (14) and free throws attempted (17). He totaled 27 points on just seven field goal attempts.

• Swanigan now has 313 points, the 10th most by a Purdue freshman in school history. His 30 starts are tied for the fourth most in school history by a Purdue freshman.

• Swanigan's 27 points were the most for a Purdue freshman since A.J. Hammons had 30 against Indiana on Jan. 30, 2013.

• The Boilermakers improved to 38-1 since the start of last season when attempting more free throws than their opponent, having a 33-20 edge on Wisconsin.

• A.J. Hammons has now scored in double-figures in 12 straight games, the most consecutive games for a Boilermaker since Ronnie Johnson did so in 13 straight games back in 2013.

• The Boilermaker senior class (Davis, Hammons, Toyra) finished up their careers with a home record of 55-16, including 31-4 over the past two seasons.

• Over the last seven games, Purdue is now 51-of-111 (.459) from 3-point range.

• Purdue's 239 3-pointers made are the sixth mos tin a season in school history.

• Purdue recorded 23 assists on 28 made field goals.
