Call for Papers

Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching are delighted to invite proposals for conference sessions to showcase good and effective practice in learning, teaching and assessment across the university under the SALT Themes of Inspiring Teaching, Enhancing Assessment and Engaging Students.

Whether you have an example from a pedagogic research project, feedback from a new teaching intervention or an innovation in learning and teaching which you feel could benefit other staff and students across the institution, please consider sharing these.

Session Formats

Once again, following feedback from last year’s conference we have made some changes to the structure this year. There are a variety of Session Formats which you may wish to consider submitting a proposal for:

If you have an idea for an alternative session format please outline this on your submission proposal
  • Presentation - 20 minute presentation with 10 minute questions
  • Lightning Talk 10 minute presentation with 5 minutes for questions
  • Workshop - 1 hour
  • Poster – (Paper and PDF required)
If you have a proposal for the conference, please submit a short abstract (approx 200 words) AND an outline of how you will present (approx 200 words)

Submit a Proposal

The call for proposals is open to all staff including those working in all areas of Learning and Teaching support. To submit your proposal you will need to complete the online web form accessed via the Submit a Proposal Button below.

Sessions should be Interactive and Engaging ...

Selection Criteria

  • Do the title and abstract clearly describe the session?
  • Is the proposed topic timely and appropriate?
  • Is the session designed to be interactive and engage the audience?
  • What are the session outcomes ? Are they appropriate for the conference?
  • Will the session positively contribute to the conference and to learning and teaching at the University?
  • Are the format and session type selected for the presentation the most appropriate to the topic and format of the presentation?
  • Does the proposal share research data or learning, teaching and assessment practice during the session?
  • Does this proposal include all 5 of the following elements: innovation, replicability, impact, evidence and scope?
Please note that an audio and visual recording of all conference sessions will be made and shared on the SALT Website after the Conference.

Please note that the submission deadline has now been extended. Please submit by the 29 April 2016

Authors will be notified of the outcome of submissions prior to opening of registration

The Call for Papers is open to all Swansea University Staff. All presenters and participants must register for the Conference in order to be eligible to attend. External colleagues are also welcome to attend the conference although places are limited due to maximum capacity.

The Conference is free to attend but registration is required for all presenters and delegates. Registration will open in May 2016.
