Q4 Reflection Digital Artifact By: Kashia Bumpess

This is a look a like picture of my quarter 1 project.Basically it wasn't required to take pictures of all of your project so I misplaced the quarter 1 project and therefore I used a picture that has the same concept of my project. So for quarter 1 I chose to knit a scarf.I chose to knit a scarf because I wanted to knit because I knitted before so I already knew how to knit.I just needed to know how to start off again because the last time I knitted before this was in 6th grade. The process for knitting this scarf was a long process because I had to make a lot of loops then I had to make the yarn change from blue to white to fit the pattern.
For Quarter 2 I chose to do string art.I chose this because I never did It before and I found a really cute one online so I wanted to do one similar to it.The process for this project was kind of difficult because I had to keep taken out the nails in the board to get the letters to match up and be straight,When I did this project I painted the board purple first. Then I nailed in the nails for the letters. Also I did the string and then glued the feathers on the board and made dream catchers but it’s not here in the picture.
For the Quarter 3 project I decided to an acrylic painting.I wanted to do an acrylic painting because I never did this before and I couldn’t do string art and knitting again so I tried something new.The process for this project was difficult because I didn't paint the background first I drew the tree first, so I had to make sure I didn’t cover the tree with paint when I was painting the background. First I drew lines to separate the seasons. Then I drew the outline of the tree and branches.Next I started to color the background which was the seasons.
  • I think I grew a lot as an artist over the year because I used tools that I never thought I would use.I think I went out of my comfort zone to try something new and to me I think that is an achievement.I Think that it's an achievement because when it comes to art projects I like to stay in the safe zone and I like to do projects that's easy so I could get a good grade.I don't take risk and as an artist I think you should take risks and try something new and I did that when I did the acrylic painting. So I think I grew a lot when it comes to art.

I have learned that when making art you should take risk and go out of your comfort zone. What I have learned about myself through the projects that I have created is that I actually like art, I like to paint and I would actually enjoy taken art classes outside of school to better myself as an artist.

I am most proud of the acrylic painting because I took a risk on that one it was very complicated and I actually enjoyed doing it even thought it took forever.

The tree seasons

My biggest weakness is procrastination because I waited for weeks to start my projects and I'm lucky that I managed to get them all done in time. This time I knew to not procrastinate and start the project on time.

Next year I would like to do more paintings but this time using other tools and paint.

The kind of art that inspires me the most is abstract art because it's different. It look like a sloppy mess. It's like the artist made a mess on the canvas but somehow it came together beautifully.
