Don and Darcy invite you to join them for a week of kayaking in Kenya this spring!

Kenya is a paradise for the world traveler, and now for international whitewater kayakers as well. Where else can you paddle in the morning and see elephants and giraffes that same afternoon?

Run laps on "The Mission" waterfall to work on your hucking technique.

On our 8-day Kayak Kenya itinerary, you will paddle 6 days and spend 2 days on safari in Ol' Pejeta National Park. If you want to stay longer in Africa, we've got a number of "add-ons" for you to choose from to extend your trip.

The Kayak Kenya itinerary is designed so that people could do the main trip with only one week off from work. The add-ons at the end are for folks looking to extend their trip.

April 30th, Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi. Sleep at Emerald Hotel in Nairobi. No meals included this day.

May 1st, Day 2: Breakfast at Emerald Hotel. Drive 1.5 hours to Savage Wilderness Camp. Outfit kayaks. Lunch at camp, then paddle the Upper Tana—2 laps. Lap #1 we'll warm up with a short section of the Upper Tana. Lap #2 do the full Upper Tana. Laps on The Mission waterfall if people want. Sleep Savage Camp. All meals included.

May 2nd, Day 3: Paddle Mathioya in the morning. Do a 2nd lap in the afternoon or move over to the Muragua for afternoon paddling. Stop in Sagana for shopping, hanging out afterwards. Sleep Savage Camp. All meals included.

May 3rd, Day 4: Paddle Upper or Lower Tana (depending on water level) in the morning. Lunch at Savage Camp then drive 3 hours to Ol’ Pejeta National Park. Afternoon/evening game drive and dinner in park. Sleep Sweetwater Resort in the park. All meals included.

May 4th, Day 5: Full day in Ol Pejeta. Early morning game drive, mid-day game drive and night game drive all available. Sleep Sweetwater Resort. All meals included.

May 5th, Day 6: Early morning game drive. Breakfast at Sweetwater and then drive back to Savage Camp. Lunch Savage Camp, then afternoon paddling. Paddle Upper or Lower Tana, or Regatte depending on water levels. Sleep Savage Camp. All meals included.

May 6th, Day 7: Paddle Namindy from above Shoosty-Boosty down to dam or paddle Rubangazi depending on water levels. Sleep Savage Camp. All meals included.

May 7th, Day 8: Early start, paddle Upper and Lower Tana, with lots of laps on Mission. Back to Savage in time for lunch and to hang gear to dry. After lunch drive into Nairobi to catch your night flight home. Breakfast and lunch included.

May 8th, Day 9: Arrive home or start your “add-on” activity.

The locals came out to watch the show. They were treated to watching kayakers have a nice surf and then run the 15-foot slide just downstream.

ADD ONS

Option 1: Add more days of kayaking. Beyond the rivers listed on the itinerary, the kayaking will get more adventurous and exploratory and our run choices will be based on water levels. Price dependent of number of kayakers adding days.

Option 2: Climb Mount Kenya. 5 days. $825 per person.

Option 3: Climb Kilimanjaro. 8-9 days, $2,000.

Option 4: Week of playboating and coaching in Uganda with Kayak the Nile. $1,195 per person (2 people minimum). Or $1,460 for a private week of boating.
