PURDUE 107, VERMONT 79 Purdue nets school-record 18 3-pointers in sunday rout.

The story of the day was Purdue's 18 3-pointers. The 18 trifectas are a new school record and the third most by a Big Ten team in conference history. Through two games, Purdue is shooting 30-of-67 (.448) from long distance.

Caleb Swanigan recorded his second straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. First freshman in school history to record double-doubles in the first two games of the season.

Swanigan's 13 rebounds are the most for a Purdue freshman since Russell Cross had 13 vs. Tulsa on Dec. 22, 1980.

Through two games, Swanigan is averaging 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.

"We feel that (packing it in on defense) is going to happen a lot this year with the attention our big guys deserve. A lot of teams are going to zone us. Ryan got hot, Kendall was going in the first half, I got going in the second half, Vince hit his shots. We kind of feel you have to pick your poison with us." -- Sophomore Guard Dakota Mathias
Dakota Mathias recorded a career-high 17 points, making 5-of-7 3-point attempts.
Vince Edwards was his typical "statsheet-stuffing" self with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in just 21 minutes. He had zero turnovers and is now averaging 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, while shooting 5-of-8 (.625) from 3-point range.

Kendall Stephens scored 11 points, his second straight double-figure scoring game.

Stephens has made seven 3-pointers in the first two games, scoring 25 points in just 36 minutes.

In 68 career games, Stephens has made at least three 3-pointers in 25 of them. He has 144 career 3-pointers.

Isaac Haas continues to be a dominant force in the middle, scoring 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Haas is averaging 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 assists on the season. He is shooting 9-of-12 (.750) from the field.
Rapheal Davis tallied 12 points and five assists while shooting 5-of-7 from the field. Davis made his only 3-point attempt and is now 2-of-4 from deep on the season.
Ryan Cline once again set Mackey Arena abuzz with three more 3-pointers and now has seven in the first two games. Cline has scored 22 points with five assists in just 34 minutes of action, while shooting 7-of-13 (.538) from long distance.
The largest cheer of the day came when Vermont's Josh Spiedel was honored before the game. A longtime friend and AAU teammate of Ryan Cline and Grant Weatherford, Spiedel, who committed to play basketball at Vermont, was seriously injured in a car accident last February. With the Mackey Arena crowd on its feet for almost two minutes, Spiedel was announced as an honorary captain for the Catamounts and the NCAA granted a waiver to allow him to sit on the Vermont bench today.
It was great to see Josh today. There were a lot of people here just to support him and I know it meant a lot to him and to his family. -- Ryan Cline.

Purdue remains home Wednesday to face Incarnate Word in Mackey Arena. Let's have some more fun and #PackMackey before our first road trip of the year! #RememberTheName
