Cool Tools for School Weekly Share

Hello folks!

It’s Wednesday night and I am sitting here watching Property Bros with my Madel (because we can’t get enough HGTV) and looking through my open tabs to see what to share with you. Now that you know what I do with my time, you can understand how glamorous my life is.

Adobe Slate

First off is a really cool tool that I think will transform how you write your newsletters or how your students share evidence of learning. Adobe Slate takes your images and text and creates movement so as your reader scrolls through, your text and images come together and then move apart to reveal something new. Take a look. It's free to sign up using an adobe log in or Facebook. Click the link below.

Are we too busy schooling?

And after I read that post, I began thinking, students need more time to think, create, reflect, and innovate and teachers need more time to allow this to happen. Time is often the reason why we can't do/try/explore because usually we do not have enough of it. So the question is, how can we create more time for teachers to go deeply into topics and for students to take ownership of their learning? Read the post.

Evernote has a new feature for it's ipad and iPhone app that will allow you to draw a sketch in your notes! Click the link below to read about it.

Now if you have never used Evernote, you should definitely give this tool a try! I use it to take course notes, save recipes, keep a plan book, information about Penn State, and much more. I love that you can create "notebooks" and then add audio, imates, text, and now sketches to notes in these these notebooks. Evernote uses geotagging as well as word tagging which makes it very easy to find a particular note or set of notes when you use the search feature. You can search by word, or by location. So if you happened to be away at a conference in New York, then you can search the notes that you took in New York.

Well, that's all folks. Now that you've seen what Slate did for my weekly news, why not give it a try yourself!
