Peace Be With You b-Sides | 3 april 2016

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” John 20:19-21
Jesus' wounds are everywhere in the world; his wounds give him away.

Reflect

1. What stuck out to you in this message, what did you understand more clearly or become more confused about as a result of listening?

2. What do you think it might be like to unlock the door of your own soul, and let Jesus come in? How might it affect your daily life?

3. Are there life experiences that have made you want to lock the door of your soul? What do you think you might need to do, or let go of, in order to open that door again?

4. How do you feel about knocking on the door to someone else's soul? Why?

Keep knocking till you get some bruises that others can see, just like Jesus.

Lord and God, dwelling beyond time and calendars, Oh king of peace, full of power without oppression or coercion; we easily give up our lives to the clock, losing sight of the present moment, this moment which most closely touches eternity, the only moment in which we can experience and commune with you. It is in your presence that peace may be found. It is your presence which can seem terrifying, stripped of all pretense, or distractions from the past or future, standing unadorned before your great light. Teach us to find this light, to find your presence, to be our home. As we long to experience you this morning, quiet our hearts and minds, give us courage to stay in your presence, to learn how to enjoy the transforming deluge of peace that you offer us in you Son, Jesus Christ. It is in his name that we pray; Amen.
