The Rijksmuseum is a national museum dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam. The museum is located at the Museum Square in South of Amsterdam, close to the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Concertgebouw.

Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House, also known as the Secret Annex Room, was a secret hiding house for Anne and her family during the war.

1. Marriage between Jews and subjects of the state of German or related blood are forbidden. Marriages nevertheless concluded are invalid, even if concluded abroad to circumvent the law. Annulment proceedings can be initiated only by the State Prosecutor.

2. Extramarital intercourse between Jews and subjects of the state of German or related blood is forbidden.

3. Jews may not employ in their household female subjects of the state of German o related blood who are under 45 years old.

4. Jews are forbidden to fly the Reich or National flag or to display the Reich colors. They are, on the other hand, permitted to display the Jewish colors. The exercise of this right is protected by the State.

5. Any person who violates the prohibition under I will be punished by a prison sentence with hard labor. A male who violates the prohibition under I will be punished with a prison sentence with or without hard labor. Any person violating the provisions under III or IV will be punished with a prison sentence of up to one year and a fine, or with one or the other of these penalties. The Reich Minister of the Interior, in coordination with the Deputy of the Führer and the Reich Minister of Justice, will issue the Legal and Administrative regulations required to implement and complete the Law. The Law takes effect on the day following promulgations except for III, which goes into force on January 1, 1936. Nuremberg, September 15, 1935 at the Reich Party Congress of Freedom.

Propaganda 

Propaganda is information usually of a misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political point of view. Propaganda is often used to make the other group seem like a bad thing compared to who is trying to convince you. Most propaganda is in the form of speeches, in a very convincing manner to persuade others to agree with the speaker. Another form of propaganda used is in the form of posters and advertisements. (as seen below)

Anne Frank

Anne Frank, daughter of Otto and Edith Frank, kept a diary about her two years of hiding during the holocaust. After the war, her diary was published so many others could hear her story.

Otto Frank

Otto Frank was a German-born Swiss business man. He was also Anne Frank's father. Otto was the one who had set up a secret hiding room in the back of his business. He kept the secret hiding room behind a bookcase towards the back of the building.

Peter van Pels

Peter van Pels is a boy also in the other family that is also in hiding with the Franks. Peter becomes a great friend of Anne and is metioned in her diary over the two years.

Meip Gies

Meip Gies was Otto Frank's secretary. She became a close friend of the Frank family and helped them when they went into hiding, getting them food and other necessities.

Act I Summary

In "Act I" of The Diary of Anne Frank, The Franks and the Van Daans go into hiding. Act I shows them in hiding for about a year and a half. Anne "grows up" more and becomes much more mature compared to when they first went into hiding in the annex. Anne becomes much more mature and becomes better friends with Peter. She is now not making faces behind people, but is giving presents to all and being kind. Also in Act I, a worker down in the factory threatens the families to expose the. and get them caught if they don't give him money in return.

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was in Poland, Germany from April 19-May 16, 1943. In the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising about 71,000 people were killed or deported. The German casualties are not known, but not more than 300.

Anne Frank Act II Summary

In "Act II" of The Diary of Anne Frank, the Franks and Van Pels continue to stay in hiding and getting help from Meip. In the Annex there are many struggles the families go through. They go through many fights and struggles with things like food. In "Act II" Anne also goes through changes of her own by becoming much more mature than when she first started living in the attic. After more time spent in the Secret Annex Room, the Franks and Van Pels are caught and taken to concentration camps. After much hard labor and conditions, the women in the Frank family and all the Van Pels were all killed in the camps. The only survivor was Otto Frank. He later makes his way back to their home and finds Anne's diary she left behind.
