Gamecock Basketball Everything you need to know about attending a Gamecock Basketball game as a student

Students help create a home court advantage for all of our sports. The information below will provide you with the information needed to attend a Gamecock Basketball game as a student. Both coaches are vocal about student support, and we hope you can attend as many games as possible at the Colonial Life Arena this year.

Tickets and reward points

How do I get a Basketball Ticket?

In order to earn points for attending a basketball game, you MUST have claimed a Student Ticket on the Student Ticketing Account Manager. Some tickets may be available at the door, but you will not receive points for attending unless you claim one.

Claim

Tickets for basketball games will be put out weekly on the Student Ticketing Account Manager. At that time, you can go in and claim a ticket for the basketball game. Tickets are first come first serve. There are 2,500 student tickets for basketball games.

What do I use as my ticket?

When you claim your student ticket, it will automatically be loaded on to your Carolina Card. You MUST have your Carolina Card to enter Colonial Life Arena. If you attempt to enter the arena with another student's Carolina Card, student ticketing privileges will be revoked for both you and the other student.

If you do not claim your ticket and want to see if tickets are available at the door, you must have a valid Carolina Card.

How many points do I earn for attending?

As stated above, in order to receive points for attending basketball games. You must claim a Student Ticket.

  • All non-conference basketball games are worth 2 points
  • All conference basketball games are worth 1 point
  • You must enter the arena before halftime in order to receive a point for attending
Basketball no-show policy

A no-show is defined as the act of claiming a ticket but not attending a game AND failing to cancel the ticket. Four basketball no-shows in one basketball season (men's and women's combined) will result in ineligibility for basketball tickets for the remainder of the season. Eight basketball no-shows during a student’s USC career will result in ineligibility for basketball tickets for the remainder of the USC career.

Gameday Information

Where are basketball games played?

Basketball games are played at the Colonial Life Arena located at 801 Lincoln street.

How do I get to the arena?
  • Walk - The arena is located within walking distance of all areas of campus
  • Ride - All students can ride the Shuttle from the Pendleton Street garage or the Horseshoe to the arena for free. The shuttles will drop you off and pick you up after the game at the DOT Garage located at the corner of College and Park Streets.
  • Park - There are limited parking spaces located around the arena that you may park in for a fee
Where do I enter?

All students MUST enter the Colonial Life Arena at the COLLEGE STREET entrance. You will not be allowed to enter the arena at any other entrance. Please make sure you enter through the doors labeled Student Entrance.

Where can I sit?

Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball have different student seating layouts. See below for each of their seating layouts. For both teams, student seating is first come, first serve.

At Men's Basketball games, please fill in rows BB-8 of sections 113-115 before filling up the corners in sections 110-112 and 216-218.

Sections 110, 111 and 112 will be strictly enforced as student only sections. Once those sections are filled, please fill up sections 216, 217 and 218 or any General Admission section (neon green).

Fan Challenges

Throughout the season, there will be various opportunities for you to win money (minimum $250) at Basketball games. When we announce a game as a Fan Challenge night, make sure you check-in on the Gamecock Student Rewards App for your chance to be selected as a participant.

Women's Basketball

The Gamecock Women's Basketball team is coming off of a successful 2014-2015 season. Last year, the Gamecocks earned their second straight NCAA tournament number 1 seed and advanced to the first NCAA Final Four in school history. South Carolina also repeated as SEC Regular-Season Champions and went on to claim the program's first SEC Tournament Title.

The Gamecock Women's Basketball team led the nation in average attendance with over 12,293 fans per game that helped power the team to their second-straight undefeated season at Colonial Life Arena.

Last year, we averaged over 700 students per game and hope to continue this trend into the 2015-2016 season.

Head Coach Dawn Staley

A three-time Olympic gold medalist, Dawn Staley is entering her 8th season as head coach of the Women's Basketball team.

Men's Basketball

Last year, the Men's Basketball team ranked 33rd in the nation in average attendance and fourth in the SEC with 11,520 fans per game at the Colonial Life Arena.

During the 2014-2015 season, you helped us average over 1,000 students per game at the Colonial Life Arena. In addition, we were "sold out" of student tickets at 2 games last year and hope to continue that trend into the 2015-2016 season.

Head Coach Frank Martin

Frank Martin is entering his 4th season as Head Coach of the Gamecock Men's Basketball team. You can often find him out on campus mingling with students and signing autographs to get them pumped up for the season.
