Seeing is Believing Spectacular display puts liebherr at very heart of bauma show

Liebherr once again provided a show-stopping display at the world’s largest construction equipment exhibition.

This is not the first outing for the Liebherr exhibition stand that dominates such a large portion of the Messe Munchen showground during the week-long Bauma extravaganza. The same exhibition stand was used in 2010 and 2013, lending it a familiar feel to anyone making the pilgrimage to the triennial Munich plant-fest.

Yet the stand – all four storeys and 14,000 square metres of it – still possesses the power to stun and amaze.

The company had on display two of the largest machines at the show – The T 264 mining truck; and the R 9200 mining excavator. Yet these were dwarfed by a luxurious temporary show stand that takes six months to erect and which would provide a suitable and permanent home befitting any large multinational corporation.

But visitors to the Bauma show – which already looks set to be a record-breaker in terms of attendance – do not attend to admire exhibition stands; even if that stand DOES contain 70 kilometres of fibre optic cables and a fine dining restaurant. They come to see the equipment. And in this area, Liebherr delivered in spades.

During a show that Liebherr rightly views as its own, the company presented over 60 construction machine exhibits including 20 global premieres. In the area of cranes, the exhibits included the 8-axle mobile crane LTM 1450-8.1, the crawler crane LR 1100 and the high-strength fibre rope for hoisting applications. Some of the global innovations for earthmoving included in particular the new wheel loader from the middle series and new crawler tractors. The material handler LH 26 was showcased at Bauma 2016 for the first time with an electric drive.

The "Liebherr Plaza" in front of the large pavilion in the outdoor area was once again reserved for particularly impressive product highlights.

  • The material handler LH 110 C HR is designed for loads up to 10 tonnes with a reach of 20 metres.
  • The LRH 600 piling rig with the new hydraulic free-fall hammer H10L is an impressive large machine for the world of special civil engineering.
  • The 200-tonne crawler excavator R 9200 and the 70-tonne crawler tractor PR 776 were unveiled to the public for the first time.
  • The T 264 mining truck offered an ideal selfie background with its 3.6 metre high tyres.

The Liebherr stand at Bauma 2016 carried the slogan “Be Part of Something Bigger”. Having seen this astonishing stand, I cannot imagine just how much bigger it can get!
