Scene from the BBC series "Six - Five Special", which ran from 1957-58. The show featured variety acts influenced by skiffle culture, most noted by use of southern American jug band instruments like the washboard and moonshine jugs, plus traditional instruments like guitar.
The Beatles didn't want to waste time for an album cover photo shoot. This was taken on the street just outside the abbey road studio.
