Lydia Maria Child A Remarkable Rhetor
Introduction-
Lots of people dream of changing the world and being known for a famous act that has changed the world for the right of all the people, or for a specific gender or race. Many important people from the past were involved in important events that have changed our world drastically in the ways that we live today. Lydia Maria Child was an abolitionist woman who worked toward a lot of different topics, but mostly helped the woman and slaves. Lydia Maria Child notably impacted the Abolitionist Movement by being having a background that helped motivate her, she was involved in a couple ways to improve and fight for what she believed, and lastly she became a legacy for woman and those who were slaves and or had family member in the Slavery-Trade Act
Background-
Not all famous people worked towards the same goal. Mrs Child however was a women's right activist , journalist,editor, and a novelist, but she was also an Anti-slavery activist.Lydia believed that women wouldn't progress until after the abolition of slavery (Wikipedia). Meaning, that to her women wouldn't have the right or say in anything until the abolition of the slaves were all taken care of. As a journalist, editor, and novelist, she first made and published her own book. It was called “An Appeal in Favor of That Class of Americans Called Africans” this book was for immediate emancipation for slaves without compensation to slaveholders(Wikipedia). She was also in the Anti-Slavery Activist. She was a strong supporter and organizer of an Anti-Slavery Society. Lydia was one of the editors for the National Anti-Slavery Standard newspaper. This paper was about abolitionists who caught against suffrage, equality, and most importantly, emancipation. Charles Lenox Redmond was a minister who travelled the country talking about being against slavery (National Anti-Slavery Standard).
Involvement-
In order to be remembered and acknowledged in history. Also to have an impact on the future the person has to be involved one way or another to make a changes you are fighting for. Lydia Maria Child was involved in a couple “committees.” She served on the Executive Committee of Garrison's American Anti-Slavery Society, and also worked towards equality for women. In the Executive Committee, Lydia, as well as other fellow workers, helped spread the word to free the slaves and to get the pm emancipated. Lydia also worked towards getting equality for women. Since she was young, her uncle's refused to give her what was ritually hers. Lydia's mother's land. Since Lydia was a woman the uncles refused to give her what was hers and her family ended in disputes. After a while Lydia isolated herself. Legacy-
As everyone knows, every person in history who has made a change in the world has a legacy. Lydia Maria Child was renowned in her days as a tireless crusader for truth and justice and a champion of excluded groups in an American society especially slaves, Indians, and women(National Women's History Museum ). Lydia was also the first woman ever in history to earn a living by her income from her writing(Who Was Lydia Maria Child Beyond ). She helped out the slaves become free, and also helped women have their say and opinions in the world. Women now have the same equality as men do.
Conclusion-
Lydia Maria Child has impacted the abolitionist movement by accomplishing her biggest topics. Mrs. Child was very successful. She wrote books to probe her points about women equality and slaves being free, and also about the Indians. Lydia was very well involved in the abolition movement. And she is now very well known. So if you want to make a change in the world, get out there and get involved. Have your own idea to get your point across the human population. With effort, every goal out there is well accomplished.
