Sandy Toes, Bahamas A Relaxing DAy Trip from Nassau to Rose Island

Caribbean Soul Trekkers, RumShopRyan and Castaway Crystal slipped away from the festivities at Festival Rum Bahamas to catch a few hours of tranquility at Sandy Toes, a casual, private, beach getaway on Rose Island.

(This story is best enjoyed with your handheld device turned sideways)

Offering a full day beach excursion for those seeking an Out Island day trip as well as overnight accommodations for those looking to live out their castaway fantasies, Sandy Toes is the perfect getaway from your Nassau, Bahamas getaway.

Welcome to Sandy Toes

This beach hideaway is conveniently located on Rose Island.

It's just a twenty five minute boat ride from Nassau but feels a million miles away.

There are no crowds, no automobiles, no vendors and no distractions - only The Bahamas as meant to be enjoyed: carefree, serene and natural.

SANDY TOES IS A BEACH ESCAPE LIKE NO OTHER. WAVES LAP ALONG THE SHORES OF AN UNCROWDED BEACH. PATHS RAMBLE THROUGH STRETCHES OF LUSH VEGETATION. PEACOCKS AND CHICKENS ROAM AROUND THE LOWER GROUNDS. SCHOOLS OF FISH GLIDE IN THE CLEAR BLUE WATER OF A PROTECTED REEF. STAFF ARE WELCOMING, HELPFUL AND EAGER TO MAKE THIS ONE OF YOUR MOST ENJOYABLE BAHAMIAN EXPERIENCES.

Sounds dreamy, right?

That's because it is.

Sandy Toe cocktail

A welcome drink aptly named the Sandy Toe cocktail greeted us within minutes of our arrival. A brief orientation followed and then we were free to take advantage of all that this ten acre oasis had to offer.

Beach games, kayaking and a guided snorkel tour were tempting options, but would have required more energy than we could have mustered after spending the previous night at Festival Rum Bahamas jumping to the sounds of soca.

Nope. We were there to lime - Bahamian style.

And so, we purposely passed the time between five of Sandy Toes' most leisurely spots: the private beach, the Southern Pavilion (which offered sweeping views of the ocean and glimpses of the resident peacocks), the beach bar, the adjacent covered deck and the heavenly hammock garden.

It was all we needed to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

Honestly, who needs a spa when you have whispering breezes to caress your skin, the sound of gentle waves to soothe your spirit, powdery sand to sink your toes into and a cold drink in your hand?

But, if a spa escape is what you're after, beachside massages can be arranged there as well.

The Retreat at Sandy Toes

I'll admit - our time at Sandy Toes passed by too quickly.

We couldn't help but dream of having just one more day there - strolling on the beach, swinging on the hammocks, breathing in the fresh air, gazing out onto the vast horizon of aquamarine blue, getting lost in those rambling paths and simply letting the feeling of serenity seep into our souls.

Midway to the treetop deck and the view was already stunning
It turns out dreams can come true.

Sandy Toes offers overnight accommodations in an onsite private villa.

Featuring two bedrooms, two treetop bungalows, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, air conditioning and the run of the island, this villa is the perfect place for a couple, small family or group of friends to enjoy a private island to themselves without plunking down a small fortune or sacrificing the greater part of a day traveling there and back (you know, the kind of travel that forces you to need a vacation from your vacation).

We toured the villa and were truly swept away.

If this looks and sounds like your idea of a vacation, find more details on the Sandy Toes website.
