BRC Explorer Dirt Dropper
My relationship with this bike started when I found it in the donation pile at the bike shop. It was a beat up dusty old mountain bike with rotten fenders, a crusty chain and drivetrain and a mound of outdated parts. I started working on it by stripping off everything but the frame, the wheels and the derailleurs. By the time I got it down to a bare frame, I was ready to take it home.
The frame's dimensions are great for long stretched out riding. It has a shallow headtube angle that is great for riding over roots and rocks and getting your ass out over the wheel. The slack angle makes this a rad schralping rig.
I'm trying to keep a balance between new tech and retro looks with this bike. It just seems wrong to have a bunch of high-tech gear bolted onto a steel frame. Besides, keeping it simple means easy repairs along the road.
