Lobo Football at the Roundhouse Santa Fe, N.M.
The Lobo football team and Coach Bob Davie were honored on Friday, February 12 at the Roundhouse in the state capital of Santa Fe, New Mexico for their 7-6 season and their appearance in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.
The players got to meet many of the various school children taking field trips to the Roundhouse on Friday. As much as politics and government is exciting, meeting the Lobos was certainly a highlight for many of the little kids who got to meet some of their favorite players.
Many of the state's Senators and legislators came out and found a way to run into the guys and meet and greet New Mexico's favorite football team. Some of those meetings came on UNM's tour of the Roundhouse, such as this one on the third floor stairwell.
The team sat at the front of the Senate Floor as House Resolution 84 was read, honoring the team and Coach Davie for their fine season on the field, for the team's terrific work in the classroom, and for the amount of community service the team performed. Seven Senators took turns at the microphone to thank the team for instilling pride in the state. Many of those Senators also congratulated the Lobos on four straight wins over New Mexico State, and many had helmets purchased through the "Lobo Helmet Project". Coach Davie was also praised for winning his third straight game as the coach of the Senate in the Senate/House basketball game on Thursday night.
It was truly an honor to be recognized in front of the New Mexico legislature, and hearing how important Lobo Football is to the people of our state will do nothing but make Lobo Football work even harder for the great fans that we have. Go Lobos!!!!
