A regional premiere! RIPCORD by David Lindsay-Abaire
Directed by Rebecca Remaly
A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Assisted Living Facility. So when resident curmudgeon Abby is forced to share her quarters with new arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the two women quickly escalates into a hysterically funny game of one-upmanship. This regional premiere comedy from Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Good People) is as heartfelt as it is hilarious.
BETC opens their 11th season with a truly charming comedy. The production also takes full advantage of the newly remodeled theater facility in the Dairy Center using a bit of technology and larger backstage space for sets.
BETC is known for taking on strong stories and characters, and It's great fun to see this talented group bring us this kind of comedy. A play that could be just a live sitcom in other hands turns out to be an evening with humor, heart, and of course a nice story.
Note: Ripcord contains some profane language and adult situations, so may not be suitable for patrons under high-school age. Parental discretion advised. For younger theatre-goers, check out BETC Playdates.
