A JOURNEY TO PURPOSE
"TURNING UPSIDE DOWN" -A Journey To Purpose
First let me say I have never done something like this. But I am in a such unique place in my life I thought it be great to begin to share this experience with you all.
Now first couple of questions I would think you all would have ...
1- What is the experience that justifys a Blog ?
2- Who are you in the first place?
3- Why do I care?
Now, maybe I'm spot on or maybe this is my insecurity talking but either way here are the answers....
In this world
it is difficult and almost impossible to find sense or reason in all the seemingly crazy and dis-jointed things that happen. Whether it be the decisions made by politicians, the latest people group to hate according to the media or just trying to keep up with social media trends. However, opposite the normal response of "the world is crazy" I offer a alternative perspective.
"It all matters, and God is in control & you are a part of Gods plan."
God is not only our creator but he is our designer. Everything about you was designed by God from the toe you like the least to the smile you can't hold back when something is too funny. The way you see things, your perspective and even the gifts and talants you have all were things God used to form you. God is our designer and he is proud of his work. God loves how he made you.Normally this is the part where I mentally bow out & I don't believe I am alone is this.
Normally for me when people start the "why your great speech" or the " OMG you are so this or that" I smile, but stop listening. It is difficult at times to hear positive things about myself let alone actually believe it. If your anything like me we immediately think of reasons why whatever the attempted compliment was is untrue.
Question: Do you believe what God has said about you? Conqueror, Provider, Leader, Royal to name a few. These terms to often we brush off of us after we hear them like lint we notice on a sweater. We are convinced the lint does not belong. But God can not lie. This truth backed me into a corner. It forced me to choose who to believe myself or God.
What God has sayed about us does not become a lie simply because we have chosen not to believe it or walk in it. Gods word does not need the fuel of our agreement to be truth.
Here is a tough pill to swallow " God is right about you even if you disagree".
God has a plan and designed you with purpose. A purpose that he has pre ordained while you were still in your mothers womb.Think of it this way. We are all simply threads. Yes threads. Sewn by the hands of an incredible artist. Designed part of a grand tapestry. Every one of you and every part of you has purpose so when you step back you can see what the designer was trying to accomplish you understand how it all "fits". Remember all things work together. So that mean regardless of the color the artist uses whether one of peace and tranquility like a blue or a violent stressful red.... its beautiful. It all has purpose.
Question 1 - Why do I care?
I want to believe I am not the only one pursuing purpose in my life. No, I know people want to find out the answers to the big questions. Why am I here? Why me? The bible is full of historical accounts of people's lives being intercepted by Gods plan, power and perspective. Saul becomes Paul, Jacob become Isreal and I would like to share the process with you all of Alexander James becoming....... Well I'm not sure yet but you get the drift. I will be brutally honest will help others who are tired of living a life opposite their God given purpose. Clocking in and out of jobs you hate to sustain the life you don't want.
I love God and his people. I have a heart to love and nurture people to the will of God with the word of God for the purpose of God. I desire to work in ministry full time one day. Woah!!!!! I finally said it out loud. Yes That is my purpose. I want you to join me as I follow Gods path to get to that place whatever it looks like. Whether it be the Sunday morning church, a loft, the home ministry or something all together different I want to share this journey with you.

Who Am I?
This is always a hard one for me. Ofcourse I have the pre packaged lunchable answer which is a comprised list of things I do such as - My name is Alexander James , 27, poet , preacher, worship leader. I have been working in the Non Profit sector for the last 5 years....
And Those things matter but they are not "Who I Am".
I am a child of God, an absolute lover of art whether it be musical, poetic, written or visual. I am passionate about seeing the power of God actively effect the lives of those around me.
I am a husband of a beautiful Woman....
Friend of many...
And all around goofball...
For the last 6 years I have been a performing spoken word artist. Poetry is a big part of my life. I have been writing since I was a senior in high school. My AP English teacher forced the class write poetry as an assignment. I fought it tooth and nail. I believed poetry was not "tough" like me. I finally gave in when it began to effect my grade and wrote my first poem - "Every poet should have". After receiving my first standing ovation in my life I was sold. I have not looked back ever since. Poetry started out as a way for me to fill my need for attention. Growing up in a single parent home with my 3 siblings in south central it was hard for me find my voice or even be noticed. It was not until my senior in high school when I gave my life to Christ that I learned that life is not about "me" being noticed or using whatever voice I'd find if all I have to talk about is... me. No, there is far too much and too many wasted gifts on the radio and tv now. I will use everything God has given me to tell in the most simple and elborate ways - The Greatest Story Ever Told! The gospel of Jesus Christ. This is who I am.

Every 2 weeks I will post about my journey. I will share progress and regress, goods and bads, up a and downs all in a attempt to encourage some else to stop clocking in and out of your life and live your purpose. I want to equip people to live the truth of scripture.
