Development Conditional Design - Final Project

First I looked into different types of games classifications to establish what I'm the most interested in.

I narrowed my choice down to 3 types:

  • dice games
  • outdoor games
  • puzzles/riddles

Experimentations

Fold and cut a corner

an experiment how difrently people can interpret the same message

Labyrinth or Maze

different approaches in creating a maze

Something about space been sitting in my head from my first thoughts about this project. This are just some warm ups. I don't really want to create a pen-and-paper game.

Race to the Central Park

dice + space
  • 2 or more players
  • 2 dice
  • 1st dice shown number in the blocks vertically, second - horizontaly
  • middles of the parks are the shortcuts, you can cross them in just one move (but in the direction depending from the dice
  • you can't swim, you drown right away
  • who gets first to the Central Park wins

'Race to the Central Park' reminds me of Psychogeography.

Federico Cortese – Codes – Imaginary Maps of Nonexistent Cities

Psychogeography – How the Environment Effects the Psych

Psychogeography was defined in 1955 by Guy Bebord as “the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organised or not, on the emotions and behaviour of individuals.” Another definition is “a whole toy box full of playful, inventive strategies for exploring cities…just about anything that takes pedestrians off their predictable paths and jolts them into a new awareness of the urban landscape.”

Psychographic Map

  • Intend to create the drift
  • Shows where to re-claim, rebuild and detours
  • New Babylon: creating new passion and desires

Main Project Idea

  • I would mostly like to organise something outdoor. Some kind of social experiment. Will give ppl directions where to go and what to do (something what they wouldn't choose to do by them selfs, like say hello to a stranger or pick up rubbish).
  • give them specific directions to several cultural location which aren't that well known
  • or just assume that there is something interesting at every corner of the world and randomly give away / hide somewhere leaflets with instructions where at the end there would be for example 'at the end of the road make a picture of something interesting/yellow/small/ whatever and upload it/hash tag it to *** Twitter/Instagram/Facebook

Or both! Destination will be the cultural place and making pictures will be one of the quests on the way there!

Title

  • To find/loose yourself you have to loose/find yourself - CHEESY
  • Find your loss - sounds like some kind of lost property agency
  • Loose your find - rather rare, make sense if you think of finding random 'yellow' at the end of the route
looks almost like 'loose your mind' :/
  • loose your find - TOO LONG
  • your find - NICELY PERSONAL
  • treasure hunt - COMMON
  • lost treasure - COMMON
  • yellow treasure/find/catch - SPECIFYING WHAT THE FINAL RESULT OF THE GAME IS

Instructions

  1. Close your eyes and spin around until you count to 10. Then open your eyes and walk into that direction till you get to a crossing.
  2. Cross the road, turn left and walk to the closest bus stop.
  3. After the bus stop turn right and walk 56 steps.
  4. Turn left into a small road and continue until it crosses with another road.
  5. Turn left again and walk until you find something yellow.
  6. Make a picture of your yellow find and upload it to www.yourfind.com
  7. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Identity

  • playful
  • friendly
  • inviting
inspiration - soft hand written type
RASTER IMAGE
VECTOR IMAGE

People could associate pink with something 'girly' and as I want to invite the most participants as possible I should try to avoid this associations. Still, I really like this colour combination so I'll look for something similar.

LEFT: too pink RIGHT: too monochromatic MIDDLE: seems ok
