Our Mission:
To provide a community for Georgia Tech students, faculty, alumni, and friends to encounter Christ in the Liturgy, the Sacraments, and Christian service; who are renewed by the Lord's grace and love as they grow in Christian discipleship.
SACRAMENTS
4 Sunday Masses are offered every week, from 9:30am - 9:00pm, with styles ranging from Praise & Worship music to Gregorian chant. Daily Mass is offered Monday-Friday.
The Catholic Center organizes its own RCIA program and baptizes/confirms students each Easter Vigil.
Multiple times throughout the year, the Catholic Center is lucky to have our Archbishop / Bishops celebrate Mass with Fr. Josh.
The Catholic Center has "semi-perpetual" adoration throughout the week, with the Blessed Sacrament exposed 6am - 12am (18 hours) Monday - Friday.
The Catholic Center, understanding well Pope Francis' designation of 2016 to be the Year of Mercy, offers Confession 6 times throughout the week, usually for the hour prior to Mass.
SOCIAL ACTIVITY
The basement of the Catholic Center, complete with a ping pong table, large flat-screen TV, and many couches, has become a place for students to relax and hang out with others.
The Catholic Center participates in the annual Homecoming events and semesterly intramural sports, providing another outlet for students to de-stress and connect with others.
The Catholic Center jumped at the chance to see Pope Francis when he visited the US, and a large number of students traveled up to see him.
Various musical groups are invited to the Catholic Center each year, particularly for Tech's annual Welcome Week at the beginning of Fall semester.
Football season is an exciting time at the Catholic Center; Catholic tailgates with their own football block has students (and Fr. Josh) rooting for the Jackets with some of their closest friends!
OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
A large contingent of Catholic students, together with GT's Students for Life, travel up to Washington D.C. each winter to walk in the March for Life.
Four college graduates work at the Catholic Center as FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) missionaries, ready to speak with Catholic and non-Catholic students alike about the Truth of Jesus Christ.
The Knights of Columbus College Council, alongside the Catholic Student Organization, helps organize outreach activities at and around the Catholic Center, most noticeably with the annual Valentine's Day Dinner for the women around campus.
The Catholic Center has become good friends with Lutheran Towers, a nearby retirement community, and regularly sends students over to talk and play games with the residents.
ACADEMIC LEARNING
Each semester students are encouraged to join a Bible study; there are so many students interested that it's always easy to find a group that can meet at a time convenient to you.
Fr. Josh, the chaplain of the Georgia Tech Catholic Center, instructor at Holy Spirit College, and Georgia Tech alumnus, enjoys giving academically-driven talks to students throughout the year, as well as meeting individually for spiritual direction and instruction.
The Catholic Center is proud to place a strong emphasis on religious vocations, bringing in religious brothers and sisters and visiting priests to talk about their charisms, specialties, and ways of life, while also giving students a chance to talk with them afterwards.
Currently 9 GT alumni, 8 men and 1 woman, are in formation as either diocesan or religious. The Catholic Center expects to send 4 more men and 1 more woman into formation this fall.
