Formed in 1962. Played in jazz clubs. Jazz clubs didn't like there modern versions of blues tunes. Mostly covered Muddy and Bo.

Signed with Decca Records. Decca passed on the beatles, so they wanted to make sure an not mess up with The Stones. 

According to bass player Bill Wyman, The Rolling Stones were the first band to deviate from choreographed costumes and dance steps, dressing in every day clothes.

First three hit songs were covers of tunes by Chuck Berry, Lennon/McCartney, Buddy Holly
