Sing with Actually

Actually is a welcoming, non-auditioning male voice chorus for gay and bisexual men and their allies. We rehearse every Thursday at 8pm. Needless to say, our rehearsals are punctuated with a drink or two, be it a swift visit to the pub or a nice cuppa in the church. It doesn't matter if you've never sung in a chorus before, you'll learn very quickly in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. Take a look at our Youtube video to see a little more about us.

We love to perform and all our hard work culminates in three principal shows a year plus some other special guest appearances and community work.

Hi, I'm Jon, I joined the chorus a year ago. Since then my personal life has been hard but chorus has helped keep me sane. It's always great fun. I've made many good friends. It's been said the chorus are like a family and it's true! It's a joy and a privilege to perform with such a talented and lovely bunch of guys. I've also become addicted to the thrill of performing, we've done some amazing shows at all sorts of venues. I never thought I'd perform at this level, it's really given me confidence in so many ways.

We rehearse every Thursday evening at St Andrew's Church, Waterloo Street, BN3 1AQ, at 8pm.

It's not all hard work! We spend a lot of time hanging out and enjoying each other's company.

“Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even when sitting. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress levels through the action of the endocrine system which is linked to our sense of emotional well-being. Psychological benefits are also evident when people sing together as well as alone because of the increased sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour."

"full of good tunes and delivered with precise articulation – I could hear ever word they sang, a real achievement in a concert hall the size of the Dome"
"Their ensemble singing all evening was first class"
Some of our performances this year, "Demons are a ghoul's best friend,"Christmas in the Royal Pavilion, "Carnival of music" at the Brighton Dome, "I got Rhythm" at St Andrew's and the main stage at Brighton Pride 2015.

So, we'd love it if you could join us for a rehearsal at St Andrews Church, Waterloo Street, BN3 1AQ. We will start at 8pm, so try to arrive by around 7.50pm so you can meet a few people and get settled in for a really fun evening. We look forward to welcoming you.
