The Yardbirds GRC History of Rock
Formed in 1963, in southwest London. The band launched the careers of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. Three of the top 5 guitar players of all time.
Originally called the Blue-Sounds, they changed their name to the Yardbirds as a reference to Charlie Parker (JAZZ SAXOPHONIST) and the hobos that hung around the rail yards.
Known for their distortion effects, "fuzz tone", and improved amplification techniques.
Influenced by Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, and Bo Diddley. They replaced the Rolling Stones as the house band at the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond.
