McBride & Edgar two double bass virtuosos meet at turner sims concert hall

The term ‘double bass’ takes on new meaning as two of the greatest living practitioners of the instrument – jazz master Christian McBride (winner of Best Improvised Jazz Solo at the 2016 Grammys) and classical/folk/bluegrass Renaissance man Edgar Meyer – join forces for a thrilling exploration of the deep space beyond genre and expectation. This setting provides a chance to hear each of them with a level of intimacy and detail that is rare in larger settings. Playing a stylistically diverse programme including new original music for the two of them, they will explore previously unimagined possibilities for the double bass. (Turner Sims Concert Hall)
