Coffee House

Our Christmas Coffee House Fundraiser was held on Wed. Dec. 9. Organized by Mrs. Lynn Foley and Ms. Christa Cassivi, this annual event provides a performance venue for budding musicians and showcases their amazing musical talents. Those attending sampled various desserts, coffee, tea and hot chocolate and listened to holiday music. It was a well attended event that welcomed donations to our Music Program. Thank you to Tim Horton's who donated drinks and to all of those that attended.

D.A.R.E. Graduation

On Thursday December 17, our Gr. 6 classes marked the end of the D.A.R.E. Program by having a joint celebration with the Gr. 6 students from Aileen Wright English Catholic School. Constable Stephanie Leduc, who facilitated the 8 week program, was on hand to hand out certificates, t-shirts and prizes. D.A.R.E., which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, teaches students decision making skills surrounding drugs, alcohol and peer pressure. The D.A.R.E. Program has been taught in our elementary Gr. 6 classes for many years and continues to provide students with important and timely information as they approach their teenage years.

Happy Grade Sixers!

Christmas Concert

Two consecutive "snow days" pushed our Christmas concert back a couple of days. Originally scheduled for Monday Dec. 14, our concert went ahead on Wed. Dec. 16.! Our gym was standing room only for classroom performances of Christmas classics and creative spins of old favourites. Well done students and staff!

Where words fail, music speaks.

Music Donation

Our school is blessed with an amazing instrumental music program led by very talented and dedicated teachers. Students have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments - including, but not limited to - the violin, flute, trumpet and piano. They perform at every opportunity including assemblies and seasonal concerts. Students who decide to join Band commit to weekly practices at school and at home. As well, the teachers who run this program also dedicate a lot of their personal time. Our teachers, Christa Cassivi and Lynn Foley were humbled to receive an unexpectedly large monetary donation after our Christmas Coffee House. Much thanks and appreciation goes out to Anne Stewart for her donation and kind words regarding our Music Program. Though Anne did not personally attend the Coffee House, she enjoys hearing about it from her family members and through them, recognizes the hard work it takes to put on such an event and the joy it brings to many. Anne's children and grandchildren have been touched by Music throughout the years and Anne wanted to "give" a gift that would make a difference. It is through support such as hers and others who have donated to our Music Program, that help with the many costs that come with offering such a program. A very heartfelt thank you goes out to Anne from all of the students in our Music Program!

Grade 4 Tea Party

Students in Ms. Beaupre's Grade 4 class recently invited parents and family members in to hear them present their autobiographies and enjoy some delicious desserts and drinks! Students had been working on explanatory writing for a few weeks prior to the event and decided to share their writing pieces with family members. The class thoroughly enjoyed this special time!
