2015-16 In Review: Tiara Murphy The Boilermaker rookie showed an early flair for the dramatic

Season Highlights

  • Murphy appeared in 23 games in her freshman campaign, averaging 6.1 minutes per contest
  • Hit a pair of 3's against Louisville at the 2015 Gulf Coast Showcase, slowing a run from the Cardinals and playing a big role in the 62-60 semifinal win
  • Logged double-digit minutes in 4-of-5 games from Jan. 27 to Feb. 11, including a five-point, two-rebound, two assist performance in 10 minutes vs. Maryland on Feb. 2
  • Despite having food poisoning the night before the game, she came off the bench to play a season-most 12 minutes and post six points, five rebounds and two assists against Oklahoma in the NCAA Tournament First Round

Statistical Update

  • Despite her limited action Murphy was very consistent from distance, knocking down 46.7% from behind the 3-point arc
  • Murphy's ability to contribute was slowed a bit by injury, as she sat out of five games in December, and missed our Feb. 14 contest vs. Michigan with a concussion
  • Her fearless attitude and play showed glimpses of a fantastic future and paid credit to her 5-star recruiting rating from ESPN HoopGurlz
