The Boy Project

I just finished reading the book The Boy Project by Kami Kinard. I would rate this book 4 ½ stars! The Boy Project is the first book in the series. This book is about a girl named Kara McAllister doing research on finding the perfect boyfriend. I like this book because it was cool to see how she did all the research. Also to see her do these things just to do her research. She even fakes liking running just to observe the boys at the mall. She Is frustrated because her friend gets the boyfriend she thinks is perfect for her. She does research on soon many boys just to find the perfect one even though the boy who was always perfect was right in front of her. She did all theses things just to impress boys. When none of it works she thinks she out of luck. But when someone puts an adult diaper in her locker that's when things get really interesting. You should read to see what else happens and what she does with the diaper it's amazing. Since she's really handy with crafts. This would be a good book for any girl who likes love stories or romantic books. I think you should read the book to see what he does with diaper and who she dates in the end.

In our last issue we asked you a Quick Question about your character. Here are the results:

Musical Behind the Scenes

By Sophia Vadnis

Today I interviewed a few of the cast members from Bugsy Malone. I asked them questions like why did you join the musical? Is it fun? What's your favorite part of the musical? Do you like all the singing and dancing that's involved? Here's what they had to say.

Carly Edholm said she joined because "When I saw Annie last year she thaught it was really fun and I like acting". She also said that "It is Really fun and I really like it". Carly's favorite part is that she can be with her friends, practice and still have fun. Carly also said "I love the singing and dancing involved. That's why I'm happy to be a featured singer and dancer!"

Tatiana Jones said "when I saw Annie last year it looked fun and she wanted to meet new people ". She said that her favorite part was that everything she really likes the dancing parts. She said yes, the musical is really fun. She loves that there is so much singing and dancing involved Tatiana loves to sing.

Lastly I interviewed Karina Cole. Karina said that she loves the musical and that it's really fun. She definitely likes all the singing and dancing involved since she loves to sing and dance. Karina loves singing and dancing so much, that's why she joined. Her favorite part about the musical is that she can laugh at ridiculous things and other people would too.

That's what Carly, Tatiana, and Karina said, if you want to see what more people said when they where interviewed go check out Brianne's article about what people said to her questions.

As you may know, the 7th grade band, 7th grade orchestra, and the 7th grade girls chorus concert happened in the beginning of the month. I was there, and all three groups were great and had some pretty interesting songs, that were nice to listen to. I talked to a few students in these group, one of the kids I talked to, was in the 7th grade orchestra. He said that in his own opinion, "This concert was AWESOME!" But he said that the concert could've been better, if the kids in the orchestra practiced at home more. He also said that one of his favorite and many others, was the song that they performed "Dragon Tail." I also talked to a few kids in the 7th grade band, they said, that overall the school concert could've been better. They say this because in the evening concert, a few of the groups messed up, but still came through sounding great. Also, on song in particular that the band played, was "Scenes of Russia" and it was said to be a, "Crowd Pleaser," and the the crowd and the students enjoyed this song.

I was not able to talk to any of the girls in the chorus. But if the evening concert was, as good or better than the in school concert, then the songs they sang must have all been crowd pleasers. All the groups played fantastically, and the students hard work has shown though the songs that they performed.

Mr. McCaffery's 7th grade students finished a project where they had to draw a Visual Narrative, based on various famous artists that told stories through the use of images. They were asked to tell a story about themselves. They drew their projects in pencil and added color using colored pencil.

Miss Rebman's 6th Grade artists have been learning about how our eyes see color during the nighttime compared to the daytime. Students had to create a landscape drawing, using oil pastels, showing both day and night in the same scene! In addition to learning how to create depth, sixth graders learned how to use cool colors and warm colors.

Meanwhile, Miss Rebman's 8th Grade artists learned about different points of view. They learned how buildings looked different from a bird's perspective compared to how an ant would see the same building. Students had to create either a one-, two-, or three-point perspective town.

Many kids at Sweet Home Middle School like to wear different styles. Most kids wear comfortable clothes because of winter. Some people like to dress up for Christmas. Christmas is coming! Yay! Some people don't like to dress up, they just like to wear plain clothes.

Mackenzie Jackman said, “I am not good at fashion, but I like to dress up.” Here she wore a little skirt with flowers, a pink shirt, and black leggings. Spring colors are part of her style.
Zoe Tyson likes to wear comfortable clothes. She wears hats and stretchy pants. Her outfit here is a rainbow!
Julia Guppenberger & Jacob Wilson also like wearing hats. They prefer comfortable clothes in the winter.
Mrs. Mescall and Miss Taylor showed their holiday spirit with red and green shirts paired with jeans. They have Christmas spirit!
